If you have come into contact with SEO at least once , you will surely have already heard of keyword research . This is one of the most important operations in the entire search engine optimization process because it literally allows you to build knowledge of the Brand you are working for, the target segment you need to attract and the competitors you need to watch out for. Keyword research is the "alpha and omega" of SEO , because it is a process that comes into contact with all the points that make up search engine optimization as a whole: from the structure of the website to the link building , obviously passing through the drafting of the contents. In this post we will explain how, within Studio Samo, we do keyword research. Our method for identifying keywords and queries useful for increasing organic traffic and pursuing our clients' business objectives.

What is keyword research? As mentioned above, keyword research (or KW Research, as it is sometimes abbreviated for convenience) is the search for keywords and queries on which to base the optimization of a website. Little changes if we talk about a blog , an ecommerce or a "static" site designed for lead generation : beyond the obvious Latest Mailing Database circumstantial differences (a blog, for example, will be "attracted" by different types of queries compared to an ecommerce ), the mindset is the same. Keyword research basically means conducting a survey on the state of awareness of a brand, product or service by an audience taken as a reference. “Searching for keywords” is a simplistic reduction, if taken literally. Instead, it is a much, much more important, articulated and complex procedure if it is understood as the search not only for the terms most used.

Difference between keywords and queries From this point of view, it is important to make a premise. One of the main distinctions that we usually make in this phase is that between keyword and query . Please note: it is a purely formal distinction, you will not (probably) find it in any book or post other than this one. Nevertheless, we find it very practical to organize our work. Basically, we consider: keyword , an extremely generic search, which "in itself" lacks context (for example, "SEO", "keyword" and the like); query , a set of keywords that form a real sentence, which can be more or less specific, but still with a more or less broad context (for example, let's consider queries "how to do SEO", "how to find the right keywords.
