Blablacar is redesigning its everyday carpooling mobile app

Post by dihaw61142 »

Being able to find a car during a short trip that you have to make occasionally is the evolution of Blablacar with its Blablacar Daily app. The company is targeting 300,000 journeys per month of this type of travel from September 2021. Blablacar relies on its 1.5 million members in France.

Find a driver for a short carpool

BlaBlaCar has developed an application in B2B Email List recent years for carpooling on home-work journeys. However, these journeys only constitute a part of short distance journeys. There are trips to go to the pharmacy, do hobbies, visit friends, etc. BlaBlaCar Daily now allows you to make a one-off short-distance journey.

The Blablacar Daily application

The user will search for a short-distance route on BlaBlaCar, Google Maps or ViaNavigo, and can reserve a place in a carpool available on BlaBlaCar Daily in just a few clicks. As the first journeys are made on BlaBlaCar Daily, users will get into the habit of traveling with the same circle of carpoolers based on travel habits and affinities that are created.

BlaBlaCar Daily has been redesigned to automatically identify these favorite carpoolers, allow members to find them as soon as they open the application and organize all their carpools for the week with them in less than 5 seconds. The app does the work, the member only has to confirm the suggested trips. BlaBlaCar Daily finally presents an overhaul of the “navigation” mode of the application. Drivers and passengers can geo-locate live on the map, navigate the route stages and launch navigation on their own GPS application.

Combining long-distance and short-distance journeys

In the long term, BlaBlaCar wants to offer trips combining long and short-distance journeys to ensure a true door-to-door experience. Furthermore, to accelerate the adoption of home-work carpooling, BlaBlaCar Daily offers businesses and communities the opportunity to participate, in particular thanks to the recent Mobility Orientation Law. Blablacar indicates that companies can now cover their employees' carpooling travel costs up to €500 per year thanks to the development of the Sustainable Mobility Package.

BlaBlaCar Daily has signed partnerships with large companies like Engie or EDF to increase the share of carpoolers among their employees. The mobility organizing authorities, which manage the transport offer at the local level, can now subsidize trips made by carpooling, indicates Blablacar. BlaBlaCar Daily is setting up partnerships with the Île-de-France, Pays-de-la-Loire and Genevois Français regions. This should result in a very attractive price for passengers and compensation of €2 to €5 per journey for drivers. Blablacar raised 95 million euros in funding a few days ago.
